Kongmu Kham (Noi Cheynam) 5 April: The Tai Khampti Revised Tonal Script
was unveiled today under the Chairmanship of Shri Chowna Mein, Hon'ble
Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in presence of Shri Chow Tewa
Mein, HMLA & PS Environment and Forests amidst huge gathering of
the Tai Khampti elites, Officers, Public leaders, GBs and senior
citizens, NGOs and the youths in a simple yet impressive function at the
Kongmu Kham, the Golden Pagoda in Namsai
District. Earlier, Shri CI Mannou, Chairman of the Tai Literature
Committee, under the aegis of the Tai Khampti Singpho Council, had
explained and highlighted about the four year long hard work done by the
committee and the significance of the improved version of the scripts
which would cater to the present need at par with the other languages.
It is pertinent to state that Shri Chowna Mein, HDCM had been keen in
this regard and was instrumental to the venture which bore fruit today
with the unveiling and unanimous acceptance of it by the august
gathering. He had, ealier, sent delegates of literature committee to
Thailand and Burma under the leadership of Ven. Vimalatissa of Kongmu
Kham to have a consultative study of international Tai Literature. In
his presidential speech, Shri Chowna Msin, HDCM congratulated the Tai
Khampti Singpho Council, especially the Literature Committee for this
hard but noble work. He said, it is a historic occasion for the Tai
Khampti people and urged the gathering to learn and impart the knowledge
to all, young and old. He opined and assured the gathering to take up
the matter with the Government for inclusion in the school carriculum in
the near future. This would
provide job oppurtunity to the local people
and solve unemployment problem to a great extend. Responding to a
memorandum submitted by Shri CM Mongmaw, General Secretary, TKSC, the
HDCM had extended a financial assistance of Rs.5 lakhs to TKSC, besides
assuring to look into the other points of the memorandum which is for
permanent site and office building of the apex body. Shri Chow Tewa
Mein, HMLA & PS also spoke on the occasion. He expressed his immense
pleasure for this great work and wished every parent to ask their
children to learn it as he spoke about and cited few living examples of
"Loss of Culture is Loss of Identity." He urged the monastic order to be
proactive in teaching the Tai scripts and in imparting moral values to
the society in general and the younger generation in particular. Many
prominent citizens, elders and learned members of the society, like CK
Manpoong (Ex-MLA), CK Namchoom (Chief ,CVC), CK Namchoom
(President,TKSC), CS Choutang (President,TKDS), Dr. CM Thamoung
(President,SEWA), CT Mansai (Secrerary,APV), CN Longchot, CA Mantaw
(General Secretary,TKDS) and many others spoke and lauded the
achievement. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Chow
Arina Manpoong, Jt. Secy. (TKSC) and community feast.
