Tai traditional marriage system holds significance to certain traditional homemade items of which the one called "KHOWTOMM'' is more of an indispensable one.A Tai marriage is incomplete without it. Khowtomm is a blend of "khamti khowno" (high sticky rice) or called "Bora rice" wrapped in a unique type of locally available leaf called "TONG" ( a leaves which found in forest, use as a local plate) in a unique design. Then it is tied all over with a thread in a special way and dipped in abundance of water to let the rice absorb water to its fullest. This improves the quality of its taste and its soft texture. This is then put to boil for 1-2 hours in good flame to be ready to be served, hot or cold.
Khowtomm is a symbol of an un detachable bonding that shall be kept intact for generations to come between the two clans rather than between the two specific families. This also depicts the rich tradition that has been preserved over the period of time.
